Whitley: 2 months

I cannot believe two months have flown by since we welcomed our precious baby girl into the world. While pregnant it seemed as if she would never arrive - time seemed to pass so slowly. It is so amazing to watch her learn & grow. It is incredible how proud you feel when they accomplish something new. This love is undescribable & as I type this post with her sleeping on my chest, I am overwhelmed with emotion for this tiny daughter of God.

We went to Whitley's two month check-up & she was such a good girl for the doc. She is such a healthy, happy girl & we feel so blessed. We weren't too excited about experiencing her first immunizations, but she handled them like a champ - only crying for a minute & looking at the nurse with such a sad "why did you do that to me" face. (Broke my heart!)

We have been paying close attention to Whitley's feet because she is showing signs of having "club feet". The only reason why we are particularly wary about it is because her Daddy was club foot & pigeon toed as a baby until he had casts to fix it at about 1 years old. We asked the doc (Randy Reese, who was actually Tyler's pediatrician) & he said her right foot seemed a little rigid so he wants us to go see an Orthopedic surgeon at Primary Children's Hospital. He told us he wasn't too worried about it & that she will probably check out fine but because of her Daddy's history it was a good idea to get a specialist's opinion.
Other than that, everything checked out perfectly & here are Whitley's 2 month stats:
Weight: 10 lbs 1 oz (30th percentile)
Height: 23 inches (75th percentile)
Head: 38.5 cm (44th percentile)

Here are some milestones & qualities we've seen so far in Whitley's life:
-Straightened out her days & nights very quickly & is a champ at sleeping through the night
-Hates actually going to sleep at anytime of day for fear of missing out on something
-Takes 5 minute "cat naps" & then is bright-eyed & alert
-Is awake the majority of the day & sleeps 6-9 hours straight during the night (We feel so lucky!)
-Only lets Daddy put her to sleep at night by walking around the house
-Always has her hands on her face in funny ways while she sleeps

-Loves bath time with Dad before bed

-Learned to smile & is such a happy baby when she's full & bubble free

-Is learning how to use her voice by cooing & talking
-Loves to stare at fans moving, lights, trees & windows
-Absolutely adores being outside - loves watching the leaves on the trees move
-Is so observant & knows when she is being swaddled at night that she's about to be fed - which puts a huge smile on her face
-Is starting to play with her floor gym - swats coos at the toys dangling in front of her - her coordination is blossoming

-Her hair is getting longer & for the most part will lay flat in some parts
-Loves getting her hair combed by daddy after bath time while staring at herself in the mirror

-Her eyelashes have grown incredibly long & it only adds to her beautiful, big, dark blue eyes
-She is tall & skinny - something Tyler & I wonder where she got it from as we were both chubby kids & teens
-Loves going for walks or jogs with Mommy & Daddy
-Hates her car seat but tolerates it occasionally
-Loves when she has someone riding in the back seat with her so she doesn't have to be alone
-Loves to be held, especially by her Daddy
-Is such a delightful, beautiful, amazing, loving little girl!!

Whitley's Blessing Day

Whitley was blessed by her father on August 5, 2012. It was a gorgeous summer day & we were overwhelmed with the amount of family & friends who came to support us on her special day. Tyler did an amazing job blessing our first child & Whitley was so good during the blessing. We had a luncheon afterward & we would love to thank those who helped out with the delicious food.

Whitley: Tiny Details

About a month ago I decided I wanted to make a little collage of all Whitley's little details. I thought it would be nice to reflect back on when she's older & remember how tiny she was.

Whitley's Newborn Photos

We only sent birth announcements to family so for those who didn't receive one in the mail, here is a glimpse at what her birth announcement looked like!

Whitley had her newborns taken when she was exactly 1 week old. I love them!
