It's a girl!

This past weekend was very busy! I hosted one of my best friends baby shower's at my house on Saturday & it was tons of fun! Although, I have to admit, very stressful! I had planned various games to play & yummy food to eat, and the morning of I realized that when Tyler had already left for work all of my papers I had printed off for the games were in his car! There wasn't enough time to drive down to his work (in Sugar House) so I started to panic. The thought kept crossing my mind 'I am going to ruin her shower! I am such a horrible friend!'

Luckily, I have a very smart husband & he can always find a solution to every problem. He scanned all of my papers and emailed it to me. Well only one problem with that... our printer wasn't installed onto our computer yet! So I had to put the file onto a zip drive & run over to my parent's house! Well.. I tried forever to print it but for some reason their printer was giving me lots of grief! (At this point I am really thinking I was set up to fail all along!)

Then I remember there is another printer on their downstairs computer! I start to print things off and then the paper kept getting jammed! 'Well what the heck!' So needless to say, I had to feed the papers in one by one until I had all 50 or so printed! By the time that was done, it was 11:00 AM exactly! Um.. the shower was supposed to start at 11:00 AM! So I'm rushing as fast as I possibly could to get back to my house, & while I was gone our friend Morgan dropped by & left Laura a present on my doorstep! Well when I get home, there is no present! So I'm thinking either Morgan was very confused at where I lived.. or one of the neighborhood kids stole it! (I'm betting on that one!) They are seriously the worst behaved kids you can find!! We have had several encounters with them walking on our cars, drawing on our garage, & our mailbox!

Well despite my nervous break down, the shower was a success & Laura got lots of cute things for her little girl Emma Rae. Here are some pictures from the eventful day!
Julie & Jenny Moore, we are so glad they could make it!Jacque & Devanee workin' hard on 'How well do you know the mommy-to-be'

Kiera got the 'poopy' diaper! All the yummy food! Thanks to my Mom for helping me out! We had chicken salad sandwiches, watermelon, cantaloupe, & pineapple. We also had lots of delicious cookies!

Congratulations Laura!! I can't wait to meet Emma!!

Surprise!!

For the past two weeks I had been anticipating Kiera's surprise birthday dinner that Laura & I had the idea to do, along with Jeff (her husband). I think this week past especially slow because I was so excited! But Friday finally came & when work was finally over, I was so stoked! Tyler & I had to go shopping at Target beforehand to get a few things, so when we were finally done we had to rush home so Tyler could change out of his work clothes & into some casual stuff... needless to say we were running a bit behind! But thanks to Laura who arrived at Olive Garden an hour & a half ahead of time to put our name on a list for 22 people! They said the wait would be 1 hour so we were crossing our fingers hoping Kiera and Jeff wouldn't arrive before we got seated!
While we were anxiously waiting, Jacque and I decided to run to the dollar store to get some fun birthday balloons!
We finally got seated not too long before the birthday girl showed up!

We had such a great time hanging out with everybody & not to mention the food was great! After dinner, Tyler & I got the privilege of sneaking off to Coldstone with Jeff & Kiera for some yummy dessert and some great talk! :]

All in all, I'm so happy everything turned out great & that it was a success! I'm sure Kiera will remember this birthday for a while... Love ya girl!

September 11th, A Day to Remember Forever

I wanted to post this in remembrance of this devastating day in history. Can you believe it has been 7 years today that terrorists attacked our country? I still remember where I was.. getting ready for school I was a freshman & my mom woke me up with the news.. then when I arrived at school everybody was watching the TV's all around school as the towers fell. I don't remember much else from that day, besides the feelings. My heart ached for those who were killed, and even more for their families left behind. I heard this poem on the radio a few years back & I think it is beautiful. It reminds us that God & our savior are with us always. They will carry us through hard times & comfort us. He didn't expect us to make it here on Earth alone, what a sweet blessing!

'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL'

You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news On September 11, 2001. Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say 'Good-Bye.'

I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, 'Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK..I am ready to go.'

I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. I held her up as she tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a woman cried out to Me for help. 'I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!' I said. 'Of course I will show you the way home - only believe in Me now.'

I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devastated souls. I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat, with every prayer. I was with the crew as they were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the believers there, comforting and assuring them that their faith has saved them.

I was in Texas , Virginia , California , Michigan , Afghanistan ... I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news. Did you sense Me? I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew every name - though not all know Me.

Some met Me for the first time on the 86th floor. Some sought Me with their last breath. Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... this way... take my hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me. But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You may not know why, but I do. However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey for you. But someday your journey will end. And I will be there for you as well.

Seek Me now while I may be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are 'ready to go.' I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

During the next 60 seconds, stop whatever you are doing, and take this opportunity. (Literally it is only 1 minute.) All you have to do is the following: Stop and think and appreciate God's power in your life, for doing what you know is pleasing to Him. If you are not ashamed to do this, follow the instructions. Jesus said, 'If you are ashamed of Me, I will be ashamed of you before My Father'

Time for a haircut!

So tonight we were sitting at Tyler's parents house playing 'Scum' & Tyler was reminded by his mom that he was in serious need of a haircut. Earlier this morning I had mentioned the same thing to him when we were getting ready. So Tyler thought up a great idea! He said "Hey Rach! Lets have you cut my hair!" Well, I wasn't sure if he was serious or not, due to the fact that he is scared to go to anyone besides his aunts to get his hair cut. He won't even go to a salon! But sure enough an hour later, I found myself standing in our kitchen with a comb and shears.

We aren't professionals here at the Gapinski home, so we invented a genius idea for a disposable hair cutting cape.....
Well, I started to use the clippers on the bottom of his hair, and when I got to around the ears I needed to use the shortest setting... well lets just say it was a lot shorter than I thought!
When I first realized what had happened, I just stood there staring.. then Tyler smiled and said "What did you do?!" And I busted up laughing!! I couldn't control it I was practically on the floor... well needless to say we had to go a little shorter on the bottom than planned, but it turned out good!!

I'm glad I didn't totally screw it up, ha ha. Tyler said it looks great! As long as he's happy, that's all that matters :] & now we know we'll never have to pay for another haircut for Tyler again. :] This will probably save us about $200 a year, due to the fact that Tyler's hair grows like a wildfire, & he's in need of a haircut about every two weeks!
Babe, you look handsome! :]

What's going on at the Gapinski's?

I just thought it was an appropriate time for my inner blogger to come out and give everyone an update on what is going on in the Gapinski home!

First I thought everyone might like to know how our kitchen remodel is going...... We decided it would work better as a scrapbook room. As you can see it is going awesome! Ha ha jk! However our kitchen has done really well over the last couple days doubling as the community scrapbook room! A few days this week the kitchen has looked like a scene from "When Scrapbooks Attack". Even though we have been forced to eat our meals in the spaces that remain between all the cute paper designs and cute shape hole punchers, Rach and her friends have done an awesome job on all of their little projects! And I am glad that they all can spend time together doing something that they love!!

Rachael and I have found a new hobby, that is actually semi-productive. We have become active ebayers! We may sound slightly lame with this.....But we really like finding good deals on stuff and trying to turn a profit on pretty much anything on the wonderful world of ebay! I guess we could have developed a worse hobby. At least this one has potential to be an income generator! So if anyone has anything they need to get rid of let us know....We'll put it on ebay!

And last but not least.......We are stoked about the opening of the FOOTBALL season!!! (Well I am atleast, but I will hopefully persuade Rach to love football as well!). I absolutely love everything about this time of year. I think college football is one of the most exciting sports that can be watched on a TV. I also love the NFL. I just need the Chargers to pull through and make it to the superbowl and everything will be golden! Football season is great because it also means that the MLB playoffs are close at hand. We have considered it a trade off that Rach gets scrapbook parties and I get to watch football! Its a win-win!!! So needless to say our TV will be getting alot of use over the next few months!
Now you know what has been going on over the past little while....nothing too exciting but thanks for reading anyways!!! :)
